Methods

The best first and second year resources, as derived from hours of compiling top resource recommendations within countless threads found in Student Doctor Network, Reddit, Quora, and on Google (using search strings similar to: best ____ book OR highest yield ____ book OR how to study ____ ) in addition to multiple conversations with the highest scoring medical students, are edited and organized here. Resources are organized in the following way:

Highest Yield

These are the most time-trusted, proven resources that, when used consistently and reliably, have produced great results on in-house exams, shelf exams, and USMLE Step 1 and 2.

Next Steps

Resources that are not essential to have to do well in the class but are very beneficial in ensuring understanding of the material.

If you have time

Resources that are helpful to have on hand as reference texts or to help with understanding and retention of certain aspects of class material.

Additional Notes

Commonly known and used resources such as UWorld, OnlineMedEd, Khan Academy, Kaplan Step 1 Video Series were not listed on resource pages due to redundancy. UWorld questions should be used concurrently with every class and rotation, if possible, and the latter 3 resources provide video lectures which should be used as needed.
